KUNDALINI YOGAThe Mother of all YogasMaterialised Spirituality in a Virtual Age Kundalini Yoga is not just a technology for the age; it is also a spiritual science for the future. The planet and all who live on it are experiencing the struggle that goes with transition and transformation. In astrological terms we are on the cusp between the Piscean and Aquarian ages. However the ages of humanity stretch much further in time than mere astrological cycles. Over hundreds of thousands of years we live nothing more than a year in cosmic terms. In terms of human evolution we have passed the summer season and are now experiencing the storms of autumn. What follows is a peaceful winter. In this age of rapid and accelerating change there is a call for, and a need of, practices with immediate effects. This is not just to satisfy a modern culture of denying causes and suppressing the symptoms of our unhealthy lifestyles. It is also very appropriate in times of uncertainty where our nervous system is under a lot of pressure and there is more information coming at us than our minds can cope with. Kundalini Yoga is the science of sequence, rhythm and sound, working on every aspect of the body, mind and soul. It is an ancient system to conquer the mind, expand consciousness, improve health, flexibility and creativity and overall self-maintenance. Unique in its combination of dynamic exercises (asanas in motion), combined with breathing (pranayama), mental concentration, integrating meditation, mudra and mantra, Kundalini Yoga is taught in specific sequences of exercises to create a very precise and certain effect. Its comprehensive nature, which includes the many teachings of Yogi Bhajan, makes it a perfect tool for the requirements of the transition to the Aquarian Age. We live in an age where burn-out and stress symptoms are less the exception and more and more common place. Our concern needs not only be with our material survival. Nor is it enough to adjust our life style for the sake of the planet's ecology. Ultimately it is only the soul that remains. Each individual must ask themselves if they wish to be a Soul Survivor. If so then it is essential to know your real self, to have a strong nervous system and a balanced glandular system for increased stabillity and focus, as well as an accumulation of spiritual vitality. These are some of the benefits from practicing Kundalini Yoga. With the breakdown of extended family structures
and traditional community networks there is also a need to discover
new forms of human community. The Internet seems to present the obvious
alternative but in reality it is a sad compensation for deep need
in the heart of all beings. It is acknowledged that one cannot learn Kundalini
Yoga from a book. To attend a class is to partake in a conscious sense
of community. When people meditate, chant or pray together then the
effects of the practice are exponential and multiplied many times
over.
